Artist's Comments

I drew while thinking about different ways to portray the people in a painting I'm going to be doing. She's not perfect but I love her.

The shading is nice and you've got your proportions down, but the collar bone is a little unrealistic. The way it is in such an exaggerated V is the problem.

Yeah, I noticed that too, but I couldn't fix it.

Thanks for the input not many people actually comment when I asked for any input.

Hey, I saw this on the thumbshare and decided to throw in my two cents :D It's very appealing, and I really like how you've done/shaded the mouth and nose area.

I think to make the collarbone look more real, you can lower and separate them some more. And to get darker shading, I guess it's just important to not be scared of going dark! When it's neccesary :D Do you use graphites, or a regular pencil? Because something as dark as a 6B can make a huge difference, too :)

All I use when I'm drawing is a .07 mechanical pencil, an eraser, and my finger for blending. And I think that I should in fact go back and try again with that damn collar bone. :XD:

Yay for blending with fingers! But be careful, because I was blending mine a little too rapidly today and now it's got a big, bulbous blister :o

You have a very good range of shades for just a regular mechanical! Ususally when people use them, the darks are washed out. But yours are just fine :) I just saw in your post that you were concerned with getting darker shades. You should look into some graphites. Just the basic ones like a 2B, 4B, and 6B can really help a lot :D

Those are the ones with the harder leads right? I had one of those and I didn't like it because of the fact that I had to keep switching my pencils. :XD:

I have the attention span of a small woodland creature.

She has a very interesting face. But the hair-leaves seem a bit too flat on her heads, and the placement of the leaves over the face seems kind of awkward.
Also, the collar bone looks too much like a collar of a shirt.
But I like the idea, and the shading is good! nice drawing =)
:iconcarlotta-guidicelli:
Actually the darker ones have the softer leads. Well, I guess you get used to them.

Your comment would be more helpful if you told how you might improve the leaves looking flat, to improve the look of the collar bone. Or why it is that the leaves in front of her face look awkward.
